Daegu International Optical Show (DIOPS 2004) October

DIOPS is expected
to be richer with UFI approval
DIOPS 2004 is to be held from October 28 to 30.
Preparation process for this show is going perfectly
smooth, so far. Last year DIOPS was formally approved
by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry
(UFI) by fulfilling every detail of the UFI¡¯s standards.
With the approval of UFI, DIOPS is recognized as
the best Optical show in Korea, attracting more
international exhibitors and buyers. As of September,
more than one month earlier the show, 124 optical
goods corporations from all over the world applied
for 420 booths. And 600 overseas buyers also applied
for the attendance through internet. The administration
of DIOPS is coordinating with some of main exhibitors
to create unique exhibition space, helping them
to present their brand-new products in creative
circumstances.

A place to see future technology
in Automatic Machinery field
Many giant machinery makers of the world will come
to DAMEX 2004 to present their advanced technology
in automatic machinery field. 220 corporations will
be exhibiting their top-notch products in 550 booths.
Exhibitors will have at least 30,000 international
buyers as their prospective customers, and many exhibitors
will have great opportunities to expand their future
sales market. Exhibitors can apply and book on-line
for invitation, directory and other services. Visitors
also can register on-line to get a free invitation.

The Imaging
Asia 2005, Asia? definitive showcase of imaging technology,
services and products, will be held at EXCO on 22-27
March 2005.
The show will feature cameras & camera equipment
exhibit, PPA Loan Collection display, Asia photo competition,
international seminar, and photo shootout events.
This event is expected to boost photo & imaging
business of the host city, Daegu, which is putting
great effort to boost its culture industry.
Imaging Asia 2005 will be a showcase for international
manufacturers and suppliers of photographic and imaging
equipment and services. The exhibition space for these
equipment will reach 7,300§³. The show also will be
a valuable opportunity for professional, commercial,
and amateur photographers to catch up cutting-edge
technology and information.
Some of the main events of the show include;
Asian Pacific Print Competition
Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and
Professional Photographers of Korea(PPK) co-host
this event. PPA international judges will handle
the judgment process in this competition and the
winners will get the Merit for the PPA Master. PPA
is the world? most prestigious professional photographers?organization
with 14,000 members from 64 countries.
PPA Loan Collection display
500 photographs, winners of International Print
Competition at Imaging U.S.A. 2004 at Las Vegas,
will be showcased at EXCO. All of the winning works
got Merit 2 and above at the competition, after
being selected from the 10,000 works by professional
photographers of the world. Asia-Pacific photographers?work
will be included in the display.
PPA Master? workshop
PPA Master Photographers will teach their sophisticated
skills and technologies in taking photographs of
wedding events, family and babies. This workshop
is prepared as the pre-convention event.
Other events
Other events include members?works display of the
Photo Artist Society of Korea (PASK), Shootout Events,
Korean-Chinese photographers exchange display.

Korea International Textile Machinery

The
biggest textile machine show ever
KORTEX seemed much nicer at the hometown of Korea
textile industry, Daegu. The 15th Korea International
Textile Machinery Exhibition (KORTEX 2004) was the
first KORTEX show that was held out of Seoul since
it was launched 28 years ago. This year the show
had more buyers and visitors than previous events
ever, making the show¡¯s dimension much more multifold.
The buyers not only looked through the booths and
checked out the products, but some of them visited
factories that are located in and near Daegu. Total
844 overseas buyers from 47 countries came for this
show, and total number of participants reached 11.2
thousand. Specifically, big buyers of textile machinery
from China, Vietnam, Egypt, and India were content
to have chances to visit Daegu city, where lots
of textile manufacturers were. In a survey conducted
during the show, 91 exhibitors hoped to come back
next show in 2006, and they wanted to use 391 booths,
implying their high satisfaction with the show.

DENPO 2004 International Game

The 4th DENPO was held last August
side by side with Korea Preliminary Competition of
World Cyber Games (WCG) at and around EXCO.
To see WCG Korea preliminary matches and Daegu Game
Festival matches on the scene, 40,000 spectators visited
EXCO. 40 million Korean Won was awarded to the winners
of WCG Korea preliminary competition, and 20 million
Korean won to the Daegu Game Festival winners.
The number of visitors to these game events was huge,
about 130,000. 72 game developing businesses from
Korea, Japan and other countries, such as NetMarble,
DaumGame, KTF, Nintendo, IREM Soft, filled 171 DENPO
booths to attract more users.
Buyers from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Canada and Malaysia
were some of the most enthusiastic overseas business
negotiators in the show. DENPO 2004 was livelier this
year, boosted by Daegu city that hope to rear game
business as its main industry in the future.
