Daegu Convention
& Visitors Bureau is established in April
2003 to attract more conventions to Daegu, as
well as to improve the city's convention environment
and inform its ability to host internationalconventions.
The Bureau consists of various member-organizations
such as the City, EXCO, 15 hotels in Daegu and
Kyeongbuk Province, three restaurants, two travel
agencies, two universities, three PCOs, an economics
research institution, a research institute and
other business organizations.

convention organizers
and visitors, giving them access to information on
facilities, accommodations, and transportation.
In 2003 the Bureau carried out many tasks. It organized
and operated briefing-sessions in Europe and the U.S.A.
in favor of EXCO and the city. It also operated information
booths at convention-expositions (EIBTM, ICCA, and
IT&CMA). The bureau's other tasks include educating
prospective convention-workforce at Daegu Convention
Academy, and supporting convention organizers.
During less than a year after its establishment, the
Bureau already succeeded in attracting international-level
conventions such as 2004 International Solar City
Conference and IULA-ASPAC 2005 to Daegu.
The Bureau is expected to achieve a lot more, attracting
conventions, specifically, related to local businesses,
fueling bigger tax revenue and enlarging economic
impact on the city in the second year.
