The 15th Korea International Textile Machinery Exhibition
(KORTEX) 2004 will be showcased from 11 to 14 may
2004 at EXCO. This year's show is specifically meaningful
in that it is taking place out of Seoul for the
first time, since the show started 28 years ago,
biannually.
Daegu is better qualified to host this exhibition
than any other place in the country because the
city is responsible for 55% of nation's textile
machinery production. Headquarters of industrial
organizations and research institutes such as Korea
Federation of Textile Industry and Korea Textile
Machinery Association are centered in and around
Daegu, too.
240 exhibitors from about 20 nations are expected
to participate in KORTEX 2004. Of these 40 exhibitors
are from overseas countries. The show will be attended
by about 10,000 buyers, including 800 international
exhibitors and buyers.
Kim Han-Soo, director of exhibition team, said "By
the end of December 2003, 110 exhibitors booked
for participation. Italian, French, German exhibitors,
along with Korean manufacturers are rushing in to
the show. I can tell that this going to be the best
KORTEX ever"

be held in March
March 18(Thu)-14(Sun), 2004

Daegu International Fire & Safety EXPO 2004, hosted
by Daegu Metropolitan City and organized by EXCO,
will be showcased from 18 to 21 March 2004.
No metropolitan city, with the high gravitation
of population, is free from the risk of disaster.
However, the extent of damage caused by disastrous
occurrences is not the same. Safe cities and less
safe ones have different levels of preparedness
for the accident.
Daegu International Fire EXPO is a result of collective
effort to turn the painful memories of disaster
into a jump-starter for heightened preparedness
and an opportunity for city marketing. Hiroshima,
ground zero of atomic bomb, redeveloped its image
as a city of peace. Baltimore of U.S. overcame the
great fire of 1904, changing itself into the city
of Fire EXPO and of safety industry.
The first fire & safety EXPO to be held in
Korea, Daegu Fire EXPO is expected to promote the
awareness for preventive measures toward fire. EXCO
hopes as many as 100,000 visitors attend the show,
which is the biggest number since the center was
established.
600 booths, 360 indoor and 240 outdoor booths,
will be filled up by exhibitors.
Korean fire departments and U.S. Forces stationed
in Korea will display their fire-fighting engines
and other equipments, respectively at outdoor exhibition
space. A collective calamity-relief drill will be
held, participated by central and local government
departments. Public and private organizations related
to the disaster prevention and control are scheduled
to participate in the drill.
At the 'Do the 119 (911 in some countries) Yourselves'
Section visitors will be allowed to ride fire engines
and operate fire-fighting equipments themselves.
At Fire-Museum section Korea's traditional and modern
fire-fighting equipments will be showcased to the
visitors. Safety-Film Theater will show fire and
fire-fighting movies. Other note-worthy events include
National Fire-fighters Symposium, Rescue Contest,
and Fire Prevention Conference.
