Hosting -The 3rd Daegu Interiors & Housing EXPO (DAHOS 2003)-
I would like to praise Daegu Exhibition& Convention Center for its successful construction of exhibition infrastructure as well as for being the leading exhibition center as a result of Daegu City's active support and EXCO's employee passion and hard work despite EXCO¡¯s short history.
The Korea Industrial Marketing Institute hosts exhibitions that can contribute to the development of the local economy in the areas of machinery, environment, food industry, and manufacturing-based technology. It has done this for more than ten years in many local exhibition halls with marketing-related consulting education.
Based on these experiences, it hosted the ?Daegu Housing EXPO? in June 2000 for the first time in EXCO. Due to its success, we again host the 3rd exhibition from April 3 to April 7 for 5 days. With the changes in construction technology from a hardware basis to digital and high-tech based technology, new construction technology and environment friendly works are delivered.

Based on these environmental changes, the size of DAHOS 2003 is also expanded so that it can host the 350 booths of 140 companies, 1.6 times more than the participants of the previous year. Although the Daegu Housing Expo sponsored by the Korea Industrial Marketing Institute is steadily growing, other local exhibition environments are not faring as well.
About 25% of domestic exhibitions are held in local locations. However, because their size or quality is inferior to those held in Seoul, local exhibitions without external support hardly make any revenue. To overcome this reality, it is necessary to not only provide more local exhibition sites, but also to conduct differentiated marketing from central exhibition halls. The improvement of exhibition management technology, local publicity network, exhibition-specialized items, and the providing of convenient service are also needed.
Furthermore, the central government should consider reducing the burden of local exhibition sponsors by giving tax benefits or financial support. By providing these benefits, more local exhibitions can be held and will lead to the development of an exhibition-related industry as well as the recovery of the domestic economy. Like COEX that have grown despite difficulties over a 30-year period, EXCO will also develop as a driving force of the local exhibition industry.

Despite the subway tragedy, the first Daegu exhibition was successful

Forthcoming exhibitions organized by private trade fair agencies such as the Housing Expo in April The 3rd Business Information and Franchise Fair was prosperous during the four-day period between the 21st and 24th of March, despite Daegus subway tragedy. Other successful exhibitions are expected in the future.
The Korea Exhibition Industry Institute (President Chong-Won Kwak), a private exhibition agency in Daegu, hosted the exhibition. More than 25,000 visitors viewed the exhibition and participating companies conducted approximately a hundred consultations.
