| Promising
exhibitions for the future |
| Two of EXCOs exhibitions
were designated as promising exhibitions for the future
by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. This
is the result of EXCOs efforts to improve its quality
since its commencement in 2001. |
2002
Digital Entertainment Industry Exposition (DENPO 2003) |
DENPO 2003 is an ambitious challenge to the international
digital entertainment industry. The entertainment and
digital contents industry is a promising industry for
the future, with its size and exports to Asian countries
like China and Taiwan actively increasing. Although
there is a Game Show held in Tokyo, Japan, it is mainly
focused on video arcades. Thus, Daegus digital entertainment
exposition is a strategic exhibition, which targets
the niche market in the entertainment industry combined
with the strengths of the Korean game industry. In fact,
the Korean Entertainment System Industry Association
and the Korea Game Industry Alliance, which have 200
membership companies respectively, are joining this
exhibition so it is designated as one of the promising
exhibitions for the future by the Ministry of Commerce,
Industry and Energy. With the investments of all government
supporting funds to host overseas buyers, it is expected
that there will be an increase of overseas buyer participation.
EXCO expects the arrival of 15,000 buyers including
250 domestic and foreign companies and 5,000 overseas
buyers.
The exhibition will focus on digital contents, particularly
online and mobile games that are currently popular in
the world market. According to Mi-Hwa Jang, the exhibition
project manager, ?The 2003 Digital Entertainment Industry
Exposition aims to concentrate on practical consultation
and exports to give benefits to the participating companies.?
It also plans to strategically invite Asian big buyers
including Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese buyers for
three years in the future to provide an opportunity
to publicize superior Korea's technologies to the world
market. |

The 3rd Daegu International Textile Dyeing Industry
and Machinery Trade Fair (Dytex 2003) |
The Daegu International Textile Industry and Machinery
Trade Fair (Dytex 2003), aimed at developing the textile
business as a value-added core industry for the last
two years, is also attracting public attention as it
has been designated as a promising exhibition for the
future by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.
Dytex 2003, sponsored by Daegu Metropolitan City and
the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and co-hosted
by EXCO and Halsol Trade Fair Co. Ltd, is an exhibition
that seeks to develop dyeing processing technology,
dyeing machinery and textile products as value-added
items, and to differentiate domestic dyeing products
from cheap Chinese dyeing products. Its goal is also
to lead as an environment friendly industry with an
exhibition of proper wastewater disposal systems, thus
avoiding the image of a pollution-causing industry.
Dytex 2003 shows new alternatives to activate domestic
textile and dyeing-related industries, which have been
showing downward trends, by adding ?digital dyeing and
natural dying-related? areas as well as dyeing processing
companies, dyeing equipment companies, and chemical
and wastewater processing areas. During the exhibition,
an International Dyeing Technology Seminar is held in
commemoration of Dytex 2003 for Japanese, American and
Chinese speakers. The Seminar will discuss the current
status of the dyeing industry and its future development,
while the Autumn Academic Symposium of the Korean Dyeing
and Processing Association will be performed as a large-scale
international academic conference with 400 participants.
It is expected that Daegu will return to its renaissance
period of the textile dyeing industry during the 1970s
and 1980s thorough the 2003 Daegu International Textile
Dyeing Industry and Machinery Trade Fair. |
