| EXCO
is attracting world attention |
Gaining worldwide attention
from the 2003 Summer Universiade,
Korea-Japan Business Conference and other international
exhibitions
Publicizing Daegu's enterprises, their products and
culture of Daegu to the world |
2003
Good opportunity to become known as an International
Exhibition & Convention Center |
In 2003, EXCO was given the opportunity to introduce
its services to the world. EXCO is now competing in
a global arena by hosting large international events,
such as the 2003 Daegu Summer Universiade and the Korea-Japan
Business Conference.
Since it started operations in 2001, EXCO has developed
the first exhibition industry of its kind in the region.
As EXCO celebrates its 3rd anniversary and accelerates
its efforts to internationalize its exhibitions and
host more international conventions, it hopes that current
opportunities will help make EXCO a major exhibition
center on an global basis.
Since many domestic exhibition facilities have subsequently
opened, the local exhibition industry now needs to improve
their operations rather than to expand their size. Therefore,
EXCO's development as an international exhibition center
will also be a critical stage in the growth of the domestic
exhibition industry.
EXCO has already hosted Daegu and Gyeongbuks biggest
professional textile and fashion exhibition, ¡®Preview
In Daegu¡¯. Participating in the ¡®Preview In Daegu¡¯-Daegu
International Textile Trade Fair were thousands of buyers,
and the exhibition became a giant consultation place
for their businesses. In April, EXCO hosts the Korea-Japan
Japan-Korea Business Conference and anticipates that
it will become an international cooperation and meeting
place for Korean and Japanese business leaders.
This international conference, which is held for the
first time since the installment of the new government,
will directly provide 1 billion won of spreading effect
to our economy including revenues from hosting, lodging
and other expenses of visitors. In addition, it is also
expected to have other benefits such as the export expansion
of local companies, publicity of local brands, technological
cooperation, and promotion of the region.
EXCO, which opened its facilities to the citizens for
public celebrations during the 2002 World Cup Game,
will again attract global attention this August as it
hosts the Universiade Game, an Olympic-type tournament
for world university students. EXCO has been designated
as a main press center and as the venue for the fencing
competition of the Universiade Game. Thus, about a thousand
correspondents will be in the EXCO not only to report
various sports events held in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area
during the Universiade game, but also to introduce Daegu-Gyeongbuk¡®s
cultural heritage, major companies, and their products
to the world.
As correspondents at EXCO¡¯s International Broadcast
Center present to the world scenes from the Universiade
Game, Daegus dream of becoming an international city
will soon be realized. |

Daegu Art EXPO 2003 - Commemorative event of the D-100
Universiade
World University Students Art Contest and Commemorative
Posters & Print Production Fair |
Daegu Art EXPO 2003, the biggest art sampie market in
Daegu, is held in EXCO this year. The Daegu Art EXPO
2003, which is held 100 days before the Universiade
Game to celebrate the tournament, is the first large-scale
arts and culture exhibition held in EXCO, the trade
exhibition site. Daegu Art EXPO was previously held
in the Daegu Culture and Arts Hall for the fist time
last year, and this year, it is conducted to celebrate
the 2003 Daegu Summer Universiade on a much larger scale.
More than 70 art galleries will participate in the event,
and other special exhibitions will be available such
as the World University Students Art Contest and the
Commemorative Posters & Print Production Fair.
Daegu Art EXPO is joined by more than 70 domestic art
galleries and 300 artists to introduce 5000 exhibited
art works that include paintings, prints, sculptures,
photographs, images and established works. The Daegu
Galleries Association, Daegu City and Daegu MBC will
host the event together and its theme is 'Together to
the future, realizing the dream'.
The operating committee of the Daegu Art EXPO is organizing
this event as a regional Daegu arts and cultural festival,
and will encourage the sale of exhibited works. The
committee hopes that this art sample market will be
a success and provide many attractions to art lovers
from all over the world.
In particular, the hosting of the World University Students
Art Contest is to highlight the Universiade Game as
an international culture and sports event for university
students, while the Commemorative Printing Production
Fair is planned to allow Daegu citizens to experience
fine art and its creation for themselves. |
