| The Universiade, a sports competition
among university players from all over the world,
will be held in Daegu for 11days from August 21-31,
2003. Seventy thousand visitors, which include
10,000 players from 170 countries, as well as
news reporters and tourists will arrive in Daegu.

EXCO Daegu's high-tech facilities will be used as the
Main Press Center, International Broadcasting Center

EXCO Daegu will play
a key role in this international event that will

of the FISU technical department which visited
EXCO Daegu lauded its excellent facilities.
The Main Press Center on the 5th level will be
used by media from all over the world. Because
of its 4,200-seating capacity, the facility will
also be used as the common working room for reporters
and photographers, communication facilities, the
press interview room, and a common working room
for reporting and briefing. |

| The International Broadcasting Center on
the 3rd floor has facilities that allow simultaneous
interpretation of up to six different languages, houses
a high-tech lighting and sound system as well as a large-sized
screen. This room will be used as the comprehensive
broadcasting center for the individual broadcasting
business, IS recording room, summary manufacturing room,
as well as an office that administers broadcasting services.
These EXCO Daegu facilities not only provide convenience
for covering and broadcasting activities but also deliver
the valuable service of disseminating news anywhere
in the world. In addition, the exhibition hall on the
1st levels will be refurbished to host the fencing competition.

| The ICCA Mission visited Daegu on
March 17 and observed some of its major infrastructures
such as the EXCO Daegu and the World Cup soccer
ground, promoting ICCA before EXCO Daegu join
the association. The affiliation with ICCA will
enable Daegu and the economy-related groups of
EXCO Daegu to interact with the international
convention industry, exchanging valuable information
to improve its capabilities in hosting various

Official Visit
Promoting Investment Opportunities as well as Mutual
Cooperation |
| Last April 19, Vladimir Yakovleff,
the mayor of Saint Petersburg in Russia visited
Daegu to open the Memorial Photo Exhibition of
the 300th foundation of Saint Petersburg, and
to hold a special conference explaining investment
opportunities. The mayor likewise agreed to attend
the representative exhibitions of each city reciprocally.
The mutual cooperation of exhibitions between
EXCO Daegu and Saint Petersburg, a sister city,
promises to uplift not only in the areas of culture
and the arts, but also in creating inroads for
the local industry into the Russian market. |

last July 17. A main thrust of the understanding
was the development of Daegu as the city of the

convention industry will also be enhanced through

| Last April 30, the Exhibition &
Convention Academy' was held for ten weeks sponsored
by the Daegu Metropolitan City to promote professionalism
in the exhibition & convention industry. The
call for professionalism is essential in order
to succeed in the 21st century. Various educational
programs in theory and practice for international
conferences and hosting exhibitions included the
invitation of experts and resource speakers from
domestic exhibition & convention industry.
Students who completed academy units get the premium
of the first exhibition & convention completion
and can apply for national accreditation of 1st
or 2nd grade qualification of convention planner.
