Largest Convention Ever Held In Daegu
The JCI Asia Pacific Cinference
The 51st JCI (Junior Chamber International) Asia Pacific Conference, a gathering of young entrepreneurs from the Asia Pacific region and the biggest international event held in Daegu, convened at EXCO Daegu on May 23 with 12,000 delegates from 22 nations participating in the events.

EXCO Daegu hosted a series of events including the opening ceremony, a gala introduction of Korea's culture and specialty products, a multi-media show featuring Daegu, and booths to showcase regional specialty products.
Investment meetings held on the third level of EXCO Daegu also offered export consultations to such industries as textiles and eyewear. The Japanese delegation, the largest among all participants, hosted a gala to celebrate Japan and to promote the World Cup Games jointly hosted by Korea and Japan.

The tourism, lodging, restaurant, airport, and transportation industries in the Daegu-Kyeongbuk region witnessed their businesses prosper during the largest convention ever held in Daegu. The region is estimated to have benefitted in the tune of more than 20 million dollars during the event.

EXCO Daegu has been highly acclaimed for its state-of-the-art facilities. Many overseas delegates commemorated the event by having their photographs taken with EXCO Daegu as the background. Most of the 4,500 overseas delegates were first-time visitors to the Daegu area.
The Textile Fair and the commemorative events that took place at the traditional medicine market in Kyeongsang Gamyoung significantly contributed to promoting the tradition and culture of the Daegu area. The success of the JCI conference has generated the confidence of EXCO Deagu to host a series of major international events such as the Confederation Cup, World Cup Korea/Japan 2002, and the 2003 Summer Universiade and to accelerate Daegu's drive to go global.
