EXCO 2001 | The Daegu
Exhibition and Convention Center, first opened
on April 19, 2001, has successfully hosted 16
exhibitions and 60 conventions including the JCI
Asia Pacific Conference. The 11 international
conference rooms reserved for international conferences,
new product presentations, business promotion
meetings, seminars, employee education sessions,
and presentations were utilized on 250 occasions
during the first nine months, drawing a total
of 600,000 visitors. |

Despite its short history,
Exhibitions held at the EXCO Daegu are quickly
emerging as key events in their respective fields
not only in Asia but also on a worldwide basis.
Each EXHIBITION advances solidarity among related
businesses, thereby functioning as the focal point
of enhancing the collective competitiveness in
the field. Daegu EXCO has quickly established
itself as an invaluable venue that offers the
most sound and constructive results for businesses.

Daegu Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Trade Fair |
 |
The 2001 Daegu Small and Medium
Enterprises (SME) Trade Fair was held on April
19 to 22, 2001 to commemorate the opening of EXCO
Daegu.
The Daegu SME Fair also opened a new chapter in
marketing strategies for small and medium size
businesses. |

During the four days of the exhibition,
191 exhibitors operated 409 booths to generate export
consultations worth USD 120 million and contracts worth
USD 48 million was finalized.
Domestic sales negotiations worth 132 million won as
well as contracts totaling 1.2 billion won concluded
during the trade fair, once again demonstrating the
marketing potential of exhibitions. |

Korea Venture Industry Exhibition (KOVEX) |
KOVEX was attended by
124 domestic companies who sponsored 203 booths
to promote Daegu as the new center for start-up
companies. From as many as 40 countries, 518 foreign
representatives visited the exhibition which yielded
USD 3.07 million and 2.7 billion won worth of
export and domestic sales consultations, respectively.

Digital Entertinment Industry Exposition 2001 (DENPO
2001) |

Digital Entertainment
Industry Exposition 2001, the first comprehensive
digital industry exhibition to be held in the
nation, attracted 54 companies for the 7 themes
including games, characters, animation, and the
cyber culture. The 2nd DENPO is scheduled to be
held during the World Cup Games and will host
both online and offline soccer matches. |

Daegu Intrnational Food Industry Exhibition 2001 (DAFOOD) |
| The DAFOOD 2001 was
held to display the development of new products,
introduce hi-tech equipment to the food industry,
and explore potential export markets for the domestic
food industry. Korean products were showcased
alongside quality products from overseas, including
food items, processing machines, kitchenware,
equipment, and cutting-edge technology related
to retail and wholesale. |

Daegu International Interior Housing Expo 2001 (DAHOS) |

The 1st Daegu International
Interior Housing Expo was held to stimulate the
interior design/construction industry, offering
an opportunity to compare a variety of options
in innovative living quarters and housing materials.
DAHOS had the honor of being the first outdoor
exhibition for the EXCO Daegu as well as the first
housing exhibition held in the Daegu area. |

Daegu Total Wedding Fair 2001 (WEFA) |
| WEFA was welcomed by
prospective newlyweds who are short of time and
financial resources in preparing for their weddings.
Participating companies enjoyed marketing success
far exceeding their expectations. |

Exhibition of Mathematics & Science |

As the first public
education exhibition, the Exhibition of Mathematics
& Science proved that EXCO Daegu can also
carry out the role as the setting for providing
a learning opportunity. The more than 28,000 visitors
to the exhibition, far successful than the identical
event previously held in Seoul, showed that local
exhibitions can also be successful. |

Daegu
International Automatic Machinery & Tools Exhibition
(DAMEX) |
DAMEX motivated the
machinery and tools industries in the Daegu and
Kyeongbuk area to replace the textile industry
as the region's core industry. With a total sales
of 6.22 trillion won in 1999, the machinery and
tools industry has already surpassed sales by
the textile industry which stood at 4.9 trillion
won.

| The machinery and tools industry anticipates
that DAMEX will serve as a springboard towards technological
development and advancement into the world market. The
DAMEX 2002, further expanded than this year, is scheduled
to be held simultaneously with the National Quality
Circles Contest (September 2 ~ 7), attracting the keen
interest of the machinery and tools industry nationwide. |

Daegu IT Fair, held
after the Korea Venture Industry Exposition (KOVEX)
and the Digital Entertainment Industry Exposition
(DENPO) in May, provided marketing opportunities
for the region's computer and software industry. |

International Oriental Medicine Show (DIOMS) |
| The International Pharmaceutical
Technology Exposition was held in Daegu, a city
with a long tradition as the marketplace for medicine
dating back some 350 years. DIOMS was held to
reassert Daegu as the mecca of the pharmaceutical
industry and revitalize the traditional pharmaceutical
industry, a knowledge-based industry of the 21st
century. As many as 85 companies from 5 countries
- Korea, China, Japan, the United States and Switzerland
- fielded 150 booths to showcase medical equipment
for hospitals and health products for consumers. |

| World-class Korean Products Show
was held to display top quality products that
will lead exports in the 21st century. The exhibition
set the stage for motivating Korean businesses
to become the best of the best in their respective
fields. |

Information of Business Exposition (INBEX) |
INBEX 2001 presented
by the Korea Exhibition Industry Research Institute
also proved a great success.
INBEX was the largest business incubation information
exhibition in the Daegu area with 80 companies
participating in 150 booths. The exhibition was
also the first to be hosted by a private exhibition
planner whose success is an indication that exhibitions
hosted by private entities can also succeed with
the opening of EXCO Daegu last April.
